In India, who is eligible to vote?
Under the Citizenship Act, which guarantees them protection under the 15th Amendment, all citizens, regardless of race, colour, or prior state of slavery, have the right to vote. Who is not eligible to vote?

What is Voter Slip?
- A voter slip from the election commission will be produced whenever a citizen is entitled to vote and has enlisted as a voter.
- This voter slip certifies the citizen’s name on the voter list. This slip, combined with a photo ID that the Election Commission recognises, can be used as a voter card.

Eligibility criteria to Register to Vote
•You can enroll as a voter if you are:
·are an Indian citizen
·have attained the age of 18 years on the qualifying date i.e. 1st of January of the year of revision of electoral roll ·are ordinarily resident of the part/polling area of the constituency where you want to be enrolled. •

What is Form 6?
- To register a new voter and obtain a voter ID, complete Form 6. Anyone above the age of 18 on the first day of January of the year in which the Electoral Roll is being amended is eligible to fill out the form.
- After submitting Form 6 to the Assembly Constituency’s Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), the person will be added to the electoral roll as a voter.
- The application, along with copies of the appropriate documents, can be lodged in person with the concerned Electoral Registration Officer / Assistant Electoral Registration Officer, sent to him, or handed over to your polling area’s Booth Level Officer.
